First Spark

A Dungeon Lord LitRPG

Fire died three hundred years ago. A spare son just ran off with the last of it.

On Judgement Night, Caelith was a breath from the class he had wanted for nine years. Spellblade, Rare: a sword with Spirit’s light along it, everything a spare son of House Astraea could hope for.

Then the calendar bells went wrong, something knocked under the floor, and he pulled his hand away from the stone. It cost him two fingers.

Judgement · broken
Offered, not taken: Spellblade (Rare)
Wound: left hand, two fingers

Under the heelstone was a coat, and in its hidden pocket a Core that should not exist. Fire, Unique. Origin: First Fire. Every child of the Ring knows Fire ended at the Quench. This one is dying, two parts in a hundred every watch, and there is only one place it can live.

With a Tideblood pilot who has her own grudge against the Houses, Caelith crosses the Reach to Vermillion, a fortress the Houses swear is a nursery tale. He comes out the other side as Lord of First Fire, with two Legendary classes: Ashblade and Dungeon Lord. He holds an isle built for a thousand, a sealed Depth full of cold things, and a phoenix waking in the stone beneath him.

He has strays, misfits and debtors, and until Midwinter to make them a Hearth. Because at Midwinter the Ring will try the man who gave him the Core, and they mean to hang him.

First Spark is Book One of Lord of First Fire: a dungeon lord LitRPG with System windows, two Legendary classes to level, a fortress to wake and a Hearth to build.
